This is the second of my four "main" tracks on this album.
This was a fun one to work on for a few reasons. I had a rough idea for the direction that I wanted to go in upon hearing the original (despite Nate's doubt at such an ambitious vision :P ).
When I first heard Harmony of a Hunter, that first track blew my mind and I immediately thought to myself, "Who is this pianist and why have I never heard of him?!" So naturally, when it came time to put this track together, he was my first choice. He gladly obliged and proceeded to knock it out of the park.
Which leads me to my next point - EVERYONE on this track knocked it out of the park. All the pieces just fit together so perfectly. It almost feels a bit arrogant putting my name as the primary "arranger" of this song, because in truth, just about everyone participating on this track had a decent amount of freedom. I recorded a rough scratch track for everyone, and sent it to them with the notion that it was the general direction that I wanted and they should play around with it a bit. Usually when collaborating with people this way, things don't always line up 100% and sometimes it's necessary to go back and rework things, potentially causing personal conflicts and such. However, this was not the case on this song whatsoever. Everything that everyone sent me was spot on with the vision I had in my head, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
Also, I do think this is the best mix I've ever done of a song up until this point.
